What We Support:
-
We commonly work with excessive worry, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, racing thoughts, and sleep disturbances, fatigue, lack of motivation, and overwhelm.
-
We work with individuals exploring new facets of their gender and sexuality, and with those struggling to integrate parts of themselves that feel incompatible with their family, community, or cultural values. We also support those working to develop new professional, artistic, or vocational trajectories.
-
We work with couples and polycules working to reduce conflict, improve communication, and enhance their intimacy. We also work with couples working to open their relationships for the first time, or needing support in revising the boundaries to help their openness flourish while maintaining greater feelings of trust and security. In addition, we work with kinksters navigating the nuances of their non-traditional dynamics.
-
We support patients in better understanding the emotional impacts they have on others, and the underlying relational modes that produce these impacts. We help them to set better internal and external boundaries, supporting their capacity to protect themselves against the excesses of others, but also how to protect others from their own excesses.
-
We adopt a trauma-informed approach, working knowledgeably and carefully to create the safe conditions for processing and integrating traumatic experiences, whether suffered recently or in the distant past. We cannot change what happened in the past, but we can work together to change its effects, and even use it to create new strengths.
-
We welcome those who feel at a loss for how to proceed, in relationships, in work, or in personal growth. Very often, this stuckness is the felt effect of unconscious repetition, that can be brought to awareness through the support of a well-trained listener.
-
We support those challenged by life’s big changes: figuring out life after college, becoming a first-time parents, moving to a new city, losing a job, experiencing divorce, losing a loved one, receiving an unwanted diagnosis, facing life after retirement
-
We work with people struggling with alcohol and substance use, either as an isolated issue or as a co-occurring disorder. We also treat behavioral addictions and compulsive behaviors, including gambling, excessive gaming, sexual compulsivity and porn consumption. We do not offer outpatient or inpatient substance use treatment programs.
Our approach is humanistic, relational, and eclectic, grounded in psychodynamic principles, but shaped the needs of the people we help.
